Dealing with Vaginal Dryness

Many women, irrespective of their age have to suffer from vaginal dryness. No matter, how often this occurs, vaginal dryness causes discomfort and pain during sexual intercourse.

The amount of natural lubrication differs in women. Vaginal liquid is clear and does not have notable odor. Perhaps you do not note that your vagina is almost always wet, however, once it becomes dry you will realize that you lack natural lubrication as dry vagina causes a great deal of discomfort.

Possible reasons for vaginal dryness

Vaginal dryness might be caused by a variety of reasons. Often women suffer from vaginal dryness during the period of menopause when they lack estrogen.

Also you should be aware that vaginal skin is very sensitive to various chemical agents, for instance to those that are contained in soap.

Also vaginal dryness might occur as an allergic reaction to perfume and deodorants.

Some skin disorders can prevent vaginal lubrication.

Coping with vaginal dryness

This is what you can do to restore natural lubrication.

Choose the right soap. Keep in mind that vagina must not be absolutely sterile. The vagina has its own method of bacteriological control the main purpose of which is to provide natural level of activity within 4-4.5 pH.

Choose non-allergic soap that is reach in fat and does not have any flavors and colorants. The soap must not contain alkali and must have appropriate pH.

Avoid allergens. The most common allergens are flavors contained in soaps and toilet paper as well as in soap powder. Try to use white and odorless soap and toilet paper. Also you should use especial soap powder designed for those who are sensitive to some agents contained in soap powder. If vaginal dryness was caused by allergens, then natural lubrication will restore very soon after you have removed all the factors that cause allergy.

Use personal lubricants. Sex lubricants do help to cope with vaginal dryness and thus to prevent discomfort or painful sensations during sexual intercourse. Be aware that personal lubricants differ. There are water-based, oil-based and silicone based lubricants. Each type of lubricant has its peculiarities and causes different feel. Keep in mind that oil-based lubricants damage latex condoms and sex toys. So if you practice safer sex or use insertable sex toys, such as dildos and vibrators you should opt for water-based or silicone-based lubricants. By the way, silicone lubricants damage sex toys that contain silicone. So when choosing a sex lubricant consider the material your sex toy is made of.

Sex lubricants are sold in sex shops. Do not use vaseline or oils instead of special lubricants as these plug pores.

Undergo medical examination. Your physician can find out whether vaginal dryness in you is caused by some skin disorders. The doctor will examine you and will prescribe you treatment. This can be a cream or an antibiotic. Also the doctor might prescribe hormonal treatment as often vaginal dryness is caused by lack of estrogen that occurs during the period of menopause.

Have regular sex. Frequent sex does contribute to better natural lubrication. Also regular sex sex is a very important factor that prevents vagina from dryness during menopause.

Absence of a sex partner is not the reason to suffer from sexual abstinence and to provoke such troubles as headaches, bad mood and vaginal dryness. This does not mean that a woman who does not have a sex partner should have occasional sex. The best way out is masturbation that is almost as healthy as sex with a partner. To enhance solo play you can use a great variety of sex toys that are designed specially to stimulate your most sensitive zones and to provide satisfaction.

Always keep in mind that regular sex is one of the main factors that provide good sexual health. Enjoy sex and enjoy good sexual health!
